
Fortified milk, dairy products, cereals and breads are important sources of vitamin D that aids in the absorption of calcium and for the development of healthy bones and teeth. Fiber should form a large part of our daily diet, since constipation of piles is common in pregnancy and it will help to prevent it. Besides, rich sources like fruits and vegetables, brown rice, nuts, cereals including oats, beans, peas and pulses are good sources of fiber. Water plays a major role in diet during pregnancy. It carries the nutrients from the food you eat to the baby. It also helps to prevent constipation, hemorrhoids, excessive swelling, and urinary track or bladder infection. Drinking enough water, especially during the last trimester prevents from being dehydrated which can lead to premature or early labor. Pregnant women should drink at least 8-10 glasses of water every day.
