Development of the baby in the first two months


This post and the two more receding posts will explain the development of baby undergoing in the first two months. The first month is termed and as the period of ovum. The fertilized egg attaches to the thick lining of the uterus and begins to grow. The egg grows by a process called cell multiplication. The single cell divides and becomes two. Two becomes four until a mass of cells are formed. Each cell is programmed to do a particular function. Some will form skin and bones. Others will become brain or blood cells. The second month of this stage is called as the period of embryo. During this month the embryo is only 6mm long. The head is just forming. The growing embryo is surrounded by a bag of liquid called amniotic fluid. The third or last of pregnancy is the fetal period. It begins about the ninth or tenth week of pregnancy and lasts until birth.

Third trimester (week 27 to 40)


The third period is the most crucial period in pregnancy and a pregnant woman will fell it very difficult. The various body changes occurring in the period are, the fetus movement could be viewed from outside the body. The navel of the pregnant women pushes out and she will get a severe back ache and she feels heavy in carrying the fetus. She will begin to walk differently to accommodate the weight of the fetus. She will also undergo some painless contractions in her body. The next considerable change is she will have shortness of breath. And the final stage of the third trimester is labor and delivery of the child.

Second trimester (week 13 to 26)


During the second trimester i.e., the period between the13th week and 26th week, a pregnant woman will undergo the following change in her body. She will start gaining weight, and she will feel the fetus moving. The skin on the stomach stretches and will get dry seems to be unusual. The breast gets bigger than normal and it helps to wear a supportive bra. A small amount of thin fluid may come out from the nipples. She will experience frequent ongoing heartburns, indigestion, and constipation. Some women will get nose bleeds during this period. The feet, hands, ankles and even face may swell. The most important change is, a dark line develops in the skin between the navel and public area. And finally a darker area or pigmentation may develop in the face.

First trimester (week 1 to 12)


During the first trimester, i.e., during the period of first twelve weeks, a pregnant woman will undergo the following changes in her body. The periods stops or becomes very light, she may feel nausea, queasiness, and vomiting quite often. The breasts of a pregnant woman swells and may be tender and the nipples along with the area around the nipples gets darker and broader. She undergoes frequent urination and extreme tiredness. She may become constipated and have heart burn very often. A severe headache occurring is also a common thing. She will also experience mood swings during the first trimester i.e., she feels angry, sad, or happy very often for no reason.
